Ingredients

  •
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Cornstarch or potato starch for dusting
  • Filling of choice red bean paste, fruit, or cream

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe bowl

Method

  1. Gather ingredients: Measure out glutinous rice flour, water, sugar, and your choice of filling.
  2. Mix glutinous rice flour, sugar, and water until smooth.
  3. Cover loosely and microwave for one minute. Stir well, then microwave again for 30 seconds. Repeat until the dough becomes thick, glossy, and elastic.
  4. Let cool slightly. Dust a surface with starch, turn out the dough, and divide into portions.
  5. Flatten each piece, add filling, and pinch closed. Shape gently and dust off excess starch.

Notes

The dough should stretch without tearing.
Use glutinous rice flour, not regular rice flour.
Do not overfill, as this causes tearing.
